Prof. Maureen Maloney, QC

Maureen Maloney is a professor at the Simon Fraser University School of Public Policy. Her teaching and research interests relate to justice systems, international human rights, and conflict management /resolution. Previously, she was Chair in Law and Public Policy and Director of the Institute for Dispute Resolution at the University of Victoria ( 2000-2010). This followed a term as Deputy Minister to the Attorney General (1993 to 2000) and Deputy Attorney General (1997 to 2000) of the Province of British Columbia. Before assuming these positions, Prof. Maloney was the first female Dean of Law in British Columbia. Professor Maloney is actively involved in international governance, dispute resolution and human rights projects in South-East Asia, Iraq, China, Brazil, Guatemala and South Africa. She has been a board member of the International Commission of Jurists (Canadian Section) and is a member of the Education and Training Committee of the Foundation for International Commercial Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution (The Hague). She was a board member of the Canadian Human Rights Foundation and has also served as a member of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal.
