Enhancing the Protective Environment for Children of Parents in Conflict with the Law or Incarcerated - A Framework for Action
The purpose of the framework is to encourage agencies and organizations (with different remits and responsibilities), local Indigenous leadership and institutions, and all others who need to be engaged in enhancing the protective environment for children to work together towards the same positive family focused outcomes for every family affected by the criminal justice system. The
framework also encourages greater cooperation between the child protection and the law enforcement and criminal justice systems in support of families. Its
objective is to mitigate the impact of criminal sanctions, in particular incarceration, on the children and families of offenders.
